Safety Tip: How to prevent serious accidents at work Follow a daily check list to prolong the life of your fork lift, but don't limit the checks to just the fork lift ....... Check that your entire workplace is safe. Firstly, your operators should make sure that the fork lift is suitable for the grades they intend to travel. They should check the work area for:
Your operator must observe the floor, dockboard and bridge plate weight limits, (and check that these plates are secure). Secondly, check personal safety. Your operators should wear suitable protective equipment, including high-visibility vests and clean, dry enclosed footwear. The fork lift should not be used in an unauthorised area or an explosive atmosphere. Finally, NO ONE should EVER lift or transport people on pallets or bare blades.
