| Get hip to regular servicing When it comes to wear and tear, the mast pivot of a forklift is very like the human hip. Deprive the human hip of synovial fluid by limiting its range of use, and it will wear out. Bone will grate against bone. Result: a costly, painful hip replacement. Neglect to lubricate the forklift bushes between the mast pivot and the differential housing and the same thing happens. Dust and dirt get in and the mast graunches against the housing, wearing it out. Result: a repair costing around $1,600.00 for repairs to the differential housing. Ouch! Lubricating the mast pivot, by comparison, would cost about $90. Sure, it’s tedious, remembering what needs to be done and doing it in good time. But you know, stitch in time ... What’s the symptom to watch for? The “drunken mast syndrome”, when the mast of your forklift becomes sloppy. Dangerous too, when the lift height goes beyond the centre of gravity! Regular servicing -- every 100 to 200 hours -- will prevent this and prolong the life of your machine. Call us now on 3205 5500 for servicing. |
